What Game Can We Play?
We were on the tee box last week waiting for our 4th to show up. As usual, a discussion of ‘the game’ for the day was in full swing. C.O.D., Point Quota, and Wolf were eliminated because we play them quite often. Sometimes it’s just hard to pick the right game for your group.
We finally decided that today our 4th wasn’t going to show and were going to play this round as a threesome. Back to the drawing board and another discussion began about 3-player games. There are a lot more 3-player games than people realize. Just to name a few; there’s ZOO, AUTO WIN, BINGO BANGO BONGO, FAIRWAYS AND PUTTS, SPLIT SIXES and over 50 other 3-player games from which to choose. I quickly suggested a game called Three Ball, and we were on our way.
This is a fun game because each player has two chances to win on each hole, and everyone is your partner. In this game, you have to cheer everyone on! There are actually three games going on at one time.
The game is very flexible and you can decide on the format before you tee off. It can be played as match or stroke play, gross or net (with or without handicaps), and best ball or aggregate (total score of both players on the team). You should also decide if points will be awarded for tied holes, or if the points will be carried over to the next hole.
Play is as follows: We’ll call the players A, B, and C.
Team #1 = Players A and B
Team #2 = Players B and C
Team #3 = Players A and C
Match Play: If you choose to play with handicaps, give strokes on the appropriate handicap holes. When a team wins a hole, each player gets one point. If two teams tie a hole, the point can be carried over to the next hole, or no points awarded for a tied hole. At the end of the round count up the points and pay each player the difference in points.
Stroke Play: Keep the scores for each team and at the end of the round,
the team with the lowest score wins the bet.
If you would like to see how the game is scored with payouts, sample scorecards for many of our games are shown on our Website (www.RestonVentures.com).
May your scores be low and your GAMES BE FUN!
(If you don’t have fun, you might as well go back to work!)
