My Sisters House Transitional Living Center Changing The Course of Women’s Lives—One at a Time….
Mission
To stabilize and strengthen our sisters through counseling, stability in living arrangements, and education as we guide them on the path to self reliance.
My Sister’s House Goals
GOAL #1 – To acknowledge and address the lack of social and supportive services that led to homelessness. Clients work closely with Case Managers through weekly meetings and workshops to address issues that previously created barriers. Included are workshops to educate women on wellness and health issues, thus creating a healthy mind, body, and spirit.
GOAL #2– To stabilize housing and promote a sense of community. Accomplished by providing housing in the Transitional Living Center. Our guests are integrated into their own “community” and assigned duties or “chores” to maintain the living environment. The Transitional Center is home, and family members are expected to take care of their home.
GOAL #3–To provide opportunities for education and job training in preparation for employment. On site GED classes and the onsite Job readiness program at Cornerstone Career Development Center will facilitate education and job training classes to prepare women to be productive and successful in the workforce.
