To improve your tee shots and to get more distance, try hitting the ball straighter instead of trying to swing harder. Concentrate on hitting the ball in the sweetspot of the clubface. If you have ever hit the sweetspot on your club, you know that these shots fly farther than the shots you hit off center, in the heel or toe. For every quarter inch you hit the ball outside the sweetspot, you lose 10 yards of distance. So for maximum power, improve you swing technique to consistently hit the ball in the center of the clubface.
Here are some important keys to help you drive the ball better.
Tee the ball high.
-Maintain light grip pressure.
-Load your weight into your back leg in
the backswing.
-Shift lower body first to start the
downswing.
-Try to sweep the ball off the tee at
impact.
-Create clubhead speed by completing
your follow-through in balance.
Indoor Practice:
-Practice your driving set-up in the
mirror.
-Check your alignment and make sure
that you are set-up behind the ball at
address.
-Your set-up is to promote a sweeping
motion.
Outdoor Practice:
-Practice hitting drives to a target. Pick out an alleyway to aim down, as if it were a
fairway.
-Train yourself to swing down your
target.
