Commit to making 2009 your best year for golf. In order to improve your swing and shave strokes off your score, you need to work on your fundamentals. Your alignment may be the most important factor in hitting a solid shot. If your alignment is incorrect, than you usually have to make some sort of compensation at impact to get your ball to fly on your intended target line.
To line up correctly every time you set up to the ball, start from the ground up. Many people mistakenly align their bodies up to their target line first, using their shoulders, hips and feet to line up to the ball instead of aiming the clubface to the ball. This sequence of lining the body up to the target first will cause you to be misaligned. Here is a checklist starting from the ground up to align yourself correctly every time you set up to the ball. LPGA Teaching Professional Kiernan Schindler demonstrates:
|
1 – Place your clubhead behind the ball, taking care that the leading edge is square to your target line. |
